A GROUP of French children have been given a warm Devon welcome as they visited Dartmouth recently.
Dartmouth put on a fine welcome for eight French children, crew and their carer team from charity Matelots de la Vie last Monday.
The sailing charity based in Saint Nazaire, sailed their iconic 90' caique Bora-Bora into the river and moored there for three days in the middle of scenic river.
Local residents David Greenwood and Sally Walley planned their shore-based welcome. Sally said: "Knowing what to do with a group of teenagers can always be tricky. But they were charming. With the help of Manna from Devon Cookery School, we set up a pasty Bake-Off judged by the Mayoress Di Lyons. They learnt to cook a pasty in a few hours, and one, Charlene said it was 'superbe, and wanted to cook more." (...)
